THE NEW PARLIAMENT.
From exchanges received on "Wednesday afternoon we are enabled to give a revised list of the new Parliament. MiDaniel, the Opposition candidate, has been returned for Wallace, having a majority of one over Mr Hirst. A scrutiny of the roll showed that there had been four double votes, one triple vote, and one case of personation. We are pleased to observe that Mr de Lautour again represents Mount Ida instead of Mr Mackenzie. In comparing Ministerial with Opposition journals, we find, of course, very different analyses of the returns, Ministerial organs giving the majority of members returned as Ministerialists, viz., 42 Ministerialists, 35 Oppositionists, 13 independent or doubtful; while the Opposition journals give the result as 51 Opposition members, 33 Ministerialists, 10 independent or doubtful. Those members whose names have an asterisk (*) affixed sat in the last Parliament.
