STATE SCHOOL PRIZES.

[to the editor.] I was greatly surprised to read in your paper this evening that collectioncards were ready lor the children to collect for the annual distribution of prizes. Sir, I heard the Rev. Mr Scott state publicly at the late distribution of prizes that there was a balance 'of ,£25 in hand. Also, I heard Mr R. J. Seddon state from the platform that he held a balance, and that some of the committee wanted him to use it for bther purposes, but he would not. Sir, I should like to know what has become of the balance ; also what necessity there is for another subscription ? Yours truly, Inquirer. November 22nd, 1881.
