The total return* of llio election for three members to leprosent the AraInira Killing in the We-tlaild County Council are pnlilislm 1. We gave those for Ivnmara, Dillman’s Tmvn, Stafford. Goldsborough, and Big Dani yesterday; and no'.v publish the returns at the other polling-places in the riding, as they appear in the West Coast Times ; fox’s. M'Whirter, John ; 29 Sandle, Henry William ... 29 Dungan, Peter 18 Seddon, Richard John ... 14 Barrowman, Fergus ... 8 Byrne, James Francis ... 4 Holmes, Janies 1 Linnell, William Henry ... 1 Muuro, Henry M. ... 1 Callaghan’s. Sandle, Henry William ... 9 M‘Whirter, John G Holmes, James 3 Dungan, Peter 3 Barrowman, Fergus ... 3 Seddon, Richard John ... 3 Byrne, James Francis ... 2 Linnell, William Henry ... 1 Munro, Henry ... ... 1 TAIPO. Seddon, Richard John ... 7 Dungan, Peter 4 M‘Whirter, John ... ... 3 Sandle, Henry William ... 1 The totals given Wy our morning contemporary differ from these vve published on the best possible authority yesterday, Messrs Seddon and M‘Whirter now appearing with an equal number of votes. Mr Dungan heads the list with the very large majority of 102 votes over Messrs Seddon and M‘Whirter; and the latter again callously enough, poll 104 over Mr Sandle and the oilier defeated candidates. The totals are as follow : Dungan, Peter 4G7 Seddon, Richard John ... 305 M‘Whirter, John 3G5 Sandle, Henry William ... 201 Holmes, James ... ... 246 Barrowman, Fergus ... 233 Byrue, James Francis ... 125 Linnell, William Henry ... 40 Munro, Henry 19 As the official notifio .tinu of the result of this election has not yet come to hand, the foregoing figures must not be taken as authentic. The Hokitika Star last night published the numbers as above, except that Mr M*Whirter appeared with 363 votes. There is a mystery surrounding this third figure, which the official notice of the Returning Officer alone cm satisfy. Meantime we are inclined to ti e belief that the totals we published yesterday are the most correct.
