A DISGRACEFUL SCENE.
[to the editor.] Sjr—Ajax defying the lightning would at any time of its performance only slightly exemplify the futility of contending ag.inst any heavenly power. But as it is well known to be only a play : there is nothing terrible in it. But I hold all performances of a like nature arc not play • and 1 instance one that took place in Seddon stieet oast (as a lady names this haunt of iniquity), between the hours of i and
6 o’clock p.m. yesterday. It was at once terrible and disgraceful j it was it mockery of God’s graces, an insult to lie i ven, a disgust to everyone on earth who Witnessed it, anil a deliheiat.c insiilt to one party in particn’ar ; and well calculated to cause a breach of the peace, and a deplorable example to iho gentler rising generation, many of whom wore present, some handling niud pretty freely to note their appreciation of the perfoimei’s ability. And here I will leave tile abominable subject; as I believe the amiable peiformer ig likely to figure before the R.M. If there is no law to punish, such petformers and it affected me in the least, 1 would use the horsewhip so gently that they would never forget it; yes; regardless of consequences;—l am, &c.; PIA.-MA.TER Kumara, Nov. 18, 1881.
