The Kumara Times. Published Every Evening. MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 1881.
The steamship Australia, with the English, European, and American mails, from San Francisco, arrived at Auckland on Saturday last, after a quick passage of 19 days loh hours, being two days in advance of contract time. Mr R. J. Seddon will address the electors at Reynolds' Hotel, Dillman's Town, this evening, at 8 o'clock; Mr J. F. Byrne at the Theatre Royal, Kumara, at 8 o'clock ; Mr M'Whirter at Goodwin's Hotel, Waimea, at 8 o'clock ; Mr Holmes at the Oddfellows Hall, Stafford, at 7 o'clock, and at Goodwin's, immediately after Mr M'Whirter ; and Mr Dungan at the Oddfellows Hall, Stafford. Mr Henry Munro will also address the electors at the Empire Hotel, Dillman's Town. The Supplementary Electoral Roll for Kumara contains no less than 243 names, bringing up the total to 22G7. It may be mentioned that those persons whose applications were put in within fifteen days of the issuing of the election writs cannot be entertained. A man named Patrick Lennon was arrested this morning, charged with robbing the tail-race of Long Tunnel Tail-race Company. He will be brought before a Justice of the Peace this evening, when a remand will probably be asked for.
