KUMARA RIFLES MATCH.

Precisely at 5.30 o’clock yesterday morning No. 1 squad of Kumara Rifles, Lieut. Davies in command, appeared at the Butts to try the chances in the day’s contest. The weather was good iu the early morning for shooting, and some very good scores were made, Vol. Rich making 79, and Yol. Stennard 76. No. 2 squad, Capt. O’Hagan in command, commenced at 9.30 a.m. The weather was anything but favorable, as it was raining all the forenoon ; still Vol. Jones put 73 together. No. 3 squad, Sub.-Lieut. Robinson iu command, commenced at 2 o’clock, the weather clearing up a little which considerably improved this squad’s chances, as will be seen by the score of Vol. Hopkins with 86, and Vol. Adamson with 81. It will be seen that the three first prizes fell to members who received the biggest handicaps, their scores being good, independent of the number of points they received. The money prizes were subscribed by members of the company, and then the entrance was Is and acceptance Is 6d. The following is the handicap and the respective scores made :
