Gentlemen —l beg to inform you that at the request of a mitnber of the Electors of this Riding, I have consented to become a candidate for one of the seats in the County Council. In my opinion the following matters should receive the earliest attention of the Council, (viz.) —the reduction, or if possible the total abolition, of the gold duty ; the reduction of miners’ rights ; the encouragement of prospecting the country ; and the letting of maintenance contract for all roads within the county by tender ; and economy in the administration of affairs generally. In conclusion, I beg to assure you that should you honor me with your confidence by electing me as one of your members, all these shall receive Day most careful attention.
