ART-UNION OF GLASGOW. The object of the Art-Union of Glasgow is to aid in exteuding a knowledge of Pine Arts, by distributing amongst its members meritorious works of art. A subscription of one guinea constitutes membership for one year. The whole subscriptions, after deducting the necessary working expenses are devoted to the purchase of paintings, drawings, sculptures, engravings, and other works of art; each being entitled to the presentation work for the yeat of subscription, and a share in the annual ballot of prizes. The presentation work for thia year consists of an exquisite line engraving on steel, by William Forrest, H.R.S.A., of Edinburgh, after the painting " Kilchurn Castle, Loch Awe," by the late Horatio M'Culloch, U.S.A. Size of engraved surface, 27£ by 17 inches. The engraving is, in every respect, worthy of the painting—the scene represented being as picturesque as any that can be found in Scotland. The composition of the landscape exhibits, in all its details, that marvellous poetic skill of which the great national artist was the acknowledged master, and the result of his combinations is a picture of surpassing beauty, on which the eye of the lover of nature is never weary of reposing. The Distribution of Prizes will take place in February, 1882. Subscriptions will be received at the Kumara Times Office. pAPER HANGINGS AND GLASS WAREHOUSE. J.
