During the passage of the ship Otaki from London, a seaman named T. Wcaton committed suicide, and W. Stream was washed overboard. The sea was too rough to attempt his rescue. November 3. George "William Adams, the boy who was injured through falling off a tramcar on the 19 th, died to-day. Invercargill, October 31. A fine young 1 man, named John Macnamara, was killed this morning by a fall of gravel in a pit near town. Auckland, November 2. The foundation stone of St. John's Wesleyan Church, Ponsonby, was laid to-day by Mrs Dewsbury, wife of the district Wesleyan clergyman. There was a large attendance. Alired Fall, butcher, broke his leg in crossing the Kaipara railway line. He lay all night on rhe ground, but his coo-eys were heard next day, and he was rescued. TIMARU, October 31. Today, at the invitation of his Worship the "Mayor (Captain Sutter), a large number* of influential citizens visited the dam at the head of the waterworks to witness the turning on of the water into the raco leading to the town. Tho race is fully twenty miles long, New Plymouth, N<member 3. Fifty Tarauaka RineTolunteety left for the front this morning. They were played out by tho band and cheered by the people.
