G.H.— In the V.R.C. Derby, one mile and a-half, Chester's time in 1877 and Suwarrow's in 1879 were 2min. 43sec. Darebin, the winner of the Derby on Saturday, whose time is announced as 2min. 4Usec, run this race, in the the fastest time on record. Darebin is a brown colt, 3 years, by The Peer, out of Lurline, and is owned by Mr F. F. Dakin. It is entered for the Melbourne Cup, Gst 121 b., and Champion Stakes, 7st. 81b. At 2 years, he ran third in the Ascot Vale Stakes -f mile; Second Nursery Handicap, £- mile ; nowhere in the Adelaide Nursery Stakes, f mile ; but won the Two-year-old Handicap, I mile, in lmin. 17isec, His pedigree is first-class. "Augur" pronounced him to be "oue of the grandest animala ever seen in Victoria."
