NOTICE )URE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished patronage of his. Majesty the King of Italy, afc Rome, according to communication received from the Corisul-Geaeral fo» Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878; We are informed that dealers in. medicne often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing o f. imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not.be serious; but as the qualities of both of the products are in. many cases directly opposed to oiie ariotherj we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts : The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, ani manifests a drawing, blistering effects upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the 4 application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis; dlptheria, croiip, sprainsj &c, the curative power of pur extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper, an application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the .diseased. , The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to commori turpentine, its market value being about threei shillings one pound weight. Our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gnm leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-fonr shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one halfounce and one ounce vials; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature. The Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, manufactured solely by Messrs Sander and Sons, Sandhurst, recommends itself by the following declaration and testimonials:— Epitome of declaration made before Moritz Colin, J. P., on the 17th October; 1877, at Sandhurst :—" Three medical gentlemen had attended the son of Mr Raabe, of Ircnbark, for nine weeks; and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutelynecessary. At this junction Mr Raabd called on Messrs Sander and bons, procuring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and,- by the application of the same he had the satisfaction of seeing his son withiu a fortnight out of all danger, and he has now quite recovered." Brief Extracts from the Bendigo' Evening News:— Mr Gieschen, residing near Sydenham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief. Cared after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbin (Runnymede) informed the manufacturers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. i In November, Mrs Reeves, from, the Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek,■•brought information of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke, which took place' in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered in the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of able size, disabling her from attending to any work. She removed the swelling completely by a continued application of the extract. .-■..•>•. The' Donald. Times, of Ist December, 1877, states:—Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying-with earache.'
