REUTER’S TELEGRAMS.

BRITISH AND FOREIGN,

SERIOUS RIOTING IN IRELAND.

London, October 14,

Serious rioting took place at Mallow, in the County of Cork yesterday, between the troops and the people. The former fired upon, and then charged the rioters, several of whom were severely injured before they were dispersed. Telegrams to hand from Ireland state that the riots, which recently occurred at Limerick between the police and the people, were renewed to-day, when further serious disturbances took place. The measures adopted by Government for the suppression of disorder in Ireland are being carried out. A large meeting under the auspices of the Land League, which was being held yesterday at Limerick, and was attended by a great many people, was suppressed by order of the Government, a large force of police being dispatched to disperse the assemblage. The head quarters of the Irish National Land League have been removed to Liverpool, and since the arrest of Dillon, on the 14th inst., Arthur O’Connor, M.P. for Queen’s County, for whose arrest a warrant has been Issued, ami who has escaped to England, has assumed the direction of the affairs of the League. A further large number of warrants have been issued by the Irish Executive for the arrest of suspected persons, and many of the local leaders of the Land League baye already been taken into custody in proclaimed districts. Recent speeches and letters by English Democrats have denounced, in strong terms, the course now being pursued by the Government in Ireland,
