[new Zealand press association. 1 Wellington, October 13. The statements respecting the Native Minister's visit to Parihika are in the main correct. Mr Kolleston did visit Te Whiti by invitation, and the result waa unsatisfactory. Beyond this, nothing has transpired here. Government have sent a circular telegram to Volunteer officers in all parts of the colony, asking if their respective districts would be disposed to furnish volunteers to serve on the West Coast, the men to be paid at the same rate as the Armed Constabulary. Hawera, October 13. The land sale was a success. Twothirds of the land offered sold on deferred payments, averaged £2 10d per acre ; cash £2. The Otaheho suburban sections, put up at £B, averaged £l6, one section bringing £29. Dunedin, October 13. The Otigo Daily Times has authority to state that Mr Oliver joins the Ministry without a portfolio, and will be called to the Upper House. He, therefore, will not stand for the Dunedin Central district, for which probably E. B. Cargill will become a candidate.
