ART-UNION OF GLASGOW. The object of the Art-Union of Glasgow is to aid in extending a knowledge of Fine Arts, by distributing amongst its members meritorious works of art. A subscription of one guinea confetitutes membership for one year. The whole subseriptions, after deducting the necessary working expenses are 'devoted to the purchase of paintings, drawings, sculptures, engravings, and "other works of art; each being entitled to the presentation work for the yeat of subscription, and a share in the annual ballot of prizes. The presentation work for this year Consists of an exquisite line engraving ion steel, by William Forrest, H.R.S.A., of .Edinburgh) after the painting " Kilchurn Castle, Loch Awe," by the late Horatio M'Culloch, R.S.A. Size of engraved surface, 27£ by 17 inches. The engraving is, in evei*y respect, worthy of the painting—the scene represented being as picturesque as any that can be found in Scotland. The composition of the landscape exhibits, in all its details, that marvellous poetic Skill of which the great national artist was the acknowledged master, aud the result of his combinations is a picture of surpassing beauty, on which the eye of the lover of nature is never weary of reposing.
