A subscription of one guinea con j salutes membership for one yean The whole subscriptions,.-ulcer deducting the necessary working expenses are devoted to the purchase of paintings, drawings, sculptures, engravings, arid other works of art; each being entitled to the presentation work for thbiyear of subscription, and a share in the annual ballot of prizes. - The presentation work lor this year consists of an exquisite line engraving on steel, by William Forrest, H.R.S/A., of Edinburgh, after the painting “ Kilchnrn Castle, Loch Awe," >by the late Horatio M'Cullocb, R.S.A. r: Size of engraved surface, 27£ by 1,7 inches,; The engraving is, in every .respect, worthy of the painting— l “the acene.represented being as picturesque ,as any that can.be found in Scotland.;i The composition of the landscape exhibits, in all its details, that marvellous poetic skill of which the great national artist was the acknowledged master,;tMifL.ihs result of his combinations is .a picture of surpassing beauty, on which the/eye of the lover of nature is never weary of reposing. The Distribution of Prizes will take place in February, 1882. Subscriptions will be received at the Kumaiu Times Office.
