We are informed that dealers irk medicne often try to sell the eucalyptus oil Found in the trade instead of bur Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the co'mtnltting of imposition against the 1 public in such a case is concerned, the* consequences would riot be serious j but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opjposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts :—- , The eucalyptus oil is recorded to ba of value as a medicament in cases oj: rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the.skiri'. Any blistering brought on by \he application of a medicament must in* crease inflammation, arid'it is therefore 5 evident tliat in cases of wounds, "colds) bronchitis, diptheria, crorip, sprains} &c, the curative pOweridf T-Jbiir extract on the bamed 1 . "diseases being .unquestionably proved:by fdrmer in this.papeh, -amiapplication of the oil instead of. our extract must impair the.diseased.--,:;.! ... . • ,;.,;•,. v,..;.:,. . . The. truth of, buir assertion ds founded Upon thetfact that tfcfe oil is. a resinoud product; equivalent to common turpen? tine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight. Our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-fonr shillings for one pouud weight. DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand: The Extract of the Eucalyptus GIo-s bulus, manufactured edlely by Mes'srS Sander and Sons, Sandhurst, recommends itself by the following declaration and testimonials:— Epitome of declaration made before Moritz Colin, J.P., on the 17th October, 1877, at Sandhurst,:—".Three medical gentlemen had attended the son of Mil Raabe, of Ironbark, for nine weeks, and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely necessary. At this junction Mr Raabe called on Messrs Sander and fcons, procuring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and, by the application of the same he had the satisfaction of seeing his son within a fortnight out of all danger, arid he has now quite recovered." Brief Extracts from the Bendigo Evening News:— Mr Gieschen, residing near Sydenham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all. medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief. Cared after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbm (Runnymede) informed the manufacturers that the'extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. ' In November, Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of. delirium caused by sunstroke,.which took place in the family of Mr. Ryan, butcher,' of Back Creek. • . \,:: :,', .•• The wife Of Mr Pickel: suffered in the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of consider^ to any work. p 4l>he removed the swelling completely by a continued application of the extract. The Donald Times, of Ist December - , 1877, states:—Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache.
