OB* GLASGOW; The object of the Art-Unidn of Glas : gdw D to aid in extending a knowledge of Fine Arts, by distributing amongst its members meritorious works of art. A subscription of one guiilea constitutes membership for one year. The whole subseriptions, after deducting the necessary working expenses ard devoted to the purchase of paintings! drawings, sculptures, engravings, and other works of drtj each being entitled to the presentation work for the year of subscription, Und a share in thd annual ballot of prizes. The presentation work for this year consists of an exquisite line engraving on steel, by William Forrest, H.R.S.A.; of Edinburgh, after the painting “ Kilchurn Castle, Loch Axtej” by the late Horatio M‘Culloch, R.S.A: S:zd of engraved surface, 27J by 17 inches. The engraving is, in every respect; worthy of the painting—the scene represented being as picturesque as any that can be found in Scotland. The bom position of the landscape exhibits; in all its details, that marvellous poetic Skill of \Hiich the great national artist was the acknowledged master, and the result of his combinations is a picture'; of surpassing beauty; on which the eye" of the lover of riatate is never weary of •reposing.
