Telegrams are to hand from Afghanistan announcing that the Ameer’s forces have arrived within eight miles of Candahar, and are encamped in a strong position. It is further reported that hostilities have already commenced against Ayonb Khan, and that the Ameer’s artillery have opened fire on Candahar. THE WRECK OF THE TEUTON AT QUATN POINT. London, September 3. Further intelligence received regarding the wreck of the Union steamei Teuton, whilst on a voyage from Cape Town to Algoa Bay, shows that she struck on a rock near Quain Point, in the vicinity of Cape Aquilas. The engine room immediately filled, and within an hour the vessel sank. Boats were lowered, and a few of those who were floating on the water were picked up and saved.
