BRITISH AND FOREIGN. Toronto, September 10. The international sculling regatta commenced here to-day. In the preliminary heat, Edward Trickett, of Sydney, came in last. September 11, The further heats in the international regatta were rowed to-day, and resulted in Paris, Bruullay, and Hamm taking first places in their respective contests. Trickett and Gonnard came in second. Paris, September 10. Telegrams are to hand from Tunis, announcing that renewed fighting has taken place between the French troops and Arab insurgents, in the neighbor, hood of Gallipoli, The European inhabitants of the town are panic-stricken, and have taken refuge on board the shipping in port, and the foreign consuls resident here have telegraphed to their Government for assistance. New York, September 9. Owing to the continued dry weather, serious forest fires have occurred in the State of Michigan, and hundieds of farms have been completely destroyed by the conflagrations, and over 200 deaths have resulted therefrom. The destruction of property is enormous, and thousands have been rendered homeless.

Alexandria, September 9. Serious disturbances occurred to-day at Cairo. A large body of Egyptian troops, with their officers,- assembled before the palace of the Khedive, and demanded that an Assembly of Notables should be called together, and the present Ministers be dismissed. The Khedive, after consideration of the demand, caused the troops to bo informed that lie would grant their request for the dismissal of the Ministers, and the men then dispersed.
