NOTICE PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS T GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished patronage of his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication, received from the Consul-General fov Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicn'e often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our! Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious; but as the qualities of both of the pro* ducts are in many cases directly opi posed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts : The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be" of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering "effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought oh by the" application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore" evident that in cases of wounds, colds* bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains* &c, the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unques-' tionably proved by former publications in this paper, an application of the" oil instead of our extract must impair! the diseased. . The truth of: our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpen* tine, its market value being about three" shillings one pound weight. DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand* The Extract of the Eucalyptus Glo* bulas, manufactured solely by Messrs Sander and Sons* Sandhurst, recommends itself by the following declarer tion and testimonials :-^- Epitome of declaration made before Moritz Cohn, J.P., on the 17th October, 1877, at Sandhurst j—" Three medical gentlemen had attended the son of Mr Raabe, of Ironbark, for nine weeks, and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely necessary; At this junction Mr Raabe called on Messrs Sander and feons, procuring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and, by the appli> cation of the same he had the satisfaction of seeing his son within a fortnight out of all danger, and he has now quite recovered." Brief Extracts from the Bendigo Evening News:— Mr Gieschen, residing near Syden* ham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture* and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief*. Cared after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the ac* cident did not even necessitate as much, as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbin (Runnymede) informed the manufacturers that- the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November, Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke, which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. . The wife of Mr Fickel suffered in the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of consider--able size, disabliug her from attending to any work. She removed the swell-* ing completely by a continued applies tion of the extract. The Donald Times, of Ist December, 1877, states:—Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache.
