NOTICE PURE VOLATILE - GLOBULUS EXTRACT; Under .the distinguished patronage of his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated i4th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers fri medicn'e often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious) but as the qualities of both of the pro- 1 ducts are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts : The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of! rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin; Any blistering brought on by the* application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore* evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, Sprainsj &c, the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unques 4 tionably proved by former publications in this paper, an application of the* oil instead of our extract must impair* the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinotui product* equivalent to common Unpen* tine, its market value being abdut three" shillings one pound weight; Our ex* tract consists of the evaporating par* tides of the gam leaves* soothing and healing in its effects* its price being twenty-fdnr shillings for one pound weight; Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in due half* ounce and one dunce vials; vials bear* ing on the labels our trade mark and signature; SANDER and SONS* Sole Manufac* turers of the Eucalyptus Extract. DUNCAN M'LEAN* Wholesale Agent for New Zealand; The Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, manufactured solely by Messrs Sauder and Sons, Sandhurst, recommends itself by the following declara* tion and testimonials : Epitome of declaration made beford Moritz Cohn* j.P.* on the 17th October* 1877, at Sandhurst :—« Three medical gentlemen had attended the son of Mr Raabe, of Ironbark* for nine weeks* and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely necessary; At this junction Mr Raabe called on Messrs Sander and Sons, procuring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and, by the appli; cation of the same he had thesatisfaci tioh of seeing his son within a fortnight out of all danger, and he has now quite recovered." Brief Extracts from the Bendigo Evening News:— Mr Gieschen, residing near Sydenham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief; Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief. Cared after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm bruised severely at a Crushing machiue, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbiu (Runnymede) informed the manufacturers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November, Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman's Arms, Badk Creek, brought information of a cure of deliriuni caused by sunstroke, which took place in the family of Mr Ryan* butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered in the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of consider-, able size, disabliug her from attending to any work. She removed the swelling completely by a continued applica> tion of the extract. The Donald Times, of Ist December* 1877, states i—Last week the eldesfi boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache.
