BRITISH AND FOREIGN. London, Auguat 5. Bradlaugh applied to the Police Court to-day, for a summons against the Police Inspector, in connection with his removal from the House of Commons on Tuesday last, but the application was refused. Iu the House of Lords to-day, the Irish Land Bill finally passed through committee, after further important mutilations and amendments to its provisions being made by their Lordships. The bill will be reported to the House and finally dealt with on Monday next. Vienna. August 6. It has transpired that the meetings, which took place to-day at Gabtein, between the Emperor Francis Joseph and minor German Sovereign*, lnve.. no political significance, but that the visits which were exchanged were merely chose of courtesy. Paris, August 6. Telegrams from Tunis report that the state of that country is now much calmer, the Arab rising having considerably subsided. Calcutta, August 6. News is to hand from Candahar that Ayoub Khan is now preparing to advance on Cabul, and is being joined by large bodies of Duranis.
LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Sydney, August 8. A child named Ford, lias died of small-pox, at the Quarantine Station. No fresh cases have been reported in the city since the 3rd inst.
