WARDEN’S COURT.
Monday, August 1. [Before H. A. Stratford, Esq., Warden ] The Court opened at 8 p.m. Borlase and party were granted protection for thirty days. An application of a similar nature of Campbell and party, by their agent Mr Hannan, was also granted. Shanahan and party, who had applied for a double area at Cape Terrace, failed to appear, and the application was struck out. The application of Ryan and party for a double area, and for a tunnel, were granted, the former being subject to conditions. There being no appearance on the part of Ah Hun and party, who had applied for a water-race, the application was struck out. Beattie and party applied' for a double area. All Court and party objected to the application, which was finally granted, subject to the rights of Ah Court and party. The application of Warren and party for a double aTea, was adjourned to the next Court day, to allow the production of a certificate. —.Mr Hannan appeared for the applicants. John Shanahan and party applied for a double area.—The application was granted. Sellars and party applied for an extended claim of five acres at Shamrock Lead.—Mr Barff appeared for minets who had objected to the application, and the evidence of several witnesses was taken, proving that the yield of gold on a portion of the ground applied for had been good, and that in the opinion of the objectors, the granting of the application would establish a monopoly.—Mr Spyer objected on behalf of Seddon and party, —The application was finally adjoin ned to the 15 th inst. The case of M‘Mahon and party v. Fisher and party, was, on the application of Mr Hannan, adjourned to the 29th inst. Hannan v. Harrold and party.—This was a friendly suit for an alteration in the certificate for a tunnel,—The alteration asked for was granted.
