BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The following other business, additional to that published in last evening's issue, was transacted at the meeting of the Borough Council on Thursday evening last;— STREET LAMPS. The Town Clerk drew attention to the desirability of having a lamp and lamp-) ostattheTowil Hall corner instead of the la rnp affixed to the Hall. The lamp in its present position had recently endangered the safety of the building. On the motion of Or; OarHpbellj se* conded by CV. Barnett, the matter was referred to the Public Works Committee, with power to act. It was also resolved, on the riiotioh of Cr. Seddon, that a lamp be fixed in the Main road, opposite the Tramway Station. CEMETERY. Cr. Seddon moved and the Mayor seconded —“ That the Town Clerk be authorised to prepare specifications for clearing half an acre of bush from the Cen i etery. ” Car ri ed. A report from the Finance Committee was read and received. The several accounts were passed for payment. K' T MARA WATER-SUPPLY. The first clause of the re|>ort of the Public Works Committee presented at the last meeting of the Council was then brought up fur ie-consideration. The following is the clause referred to:— The Committee recommend that no action be taken to secure the land required for the line of water-pipes until more definite arrangements have been made for laying the pipes ; and that these agreements be entered into under Section 21 of the “ Amended Public Works Act, 1878.” The Mayor moved that the consideration of this clause stand over for tho present. On the motion of Cr. Seddon, it was resolved that a miner’s right be taken Oat by the Town Clerk, and that the site for tiie reservoir be applied for and protected. lIEURBATION GROUND. Cr. Pearn moved and Cr. Seddon seconded—“ That tenders be called, to be sent in by the next ordinary meeting of the Council, for completing the improvements to the Recreation Ground in accordance with the specifications. The motion was carried, and the Council adjourned.
