While one of the daughters of the Prince and Princess of Wales was out driving to-day, the horses bolted, ami the carriage was completely smashed, but the Princess fortunately escaped without injury. Paris, July 12. Owing to the determined resist,-mce offered by the Arab tribes to the French
truops, orders have been sent to the French squadron in the Mediterranean to proceed to Sfakns to assist the vessels now engaged in bombarding the place, and to strengthen the force sent for service against the Arabs. Telegrams are to hand from Tunis announcing that several regiments of Tunisian troops have been despatched to Sfakiia to quell the rising there, but they refused on their arrival to fight the insurgents, and have consequently since been conveyed back to Tunis. PRESIDENT GARFIELD. Washington, July 12. The latest bulletin reports that the President had experienced feverish symptoms during the night, but is otherwise progressing favorably towards recovery. Calcutta, June 14. The intelligence received on the 4tb inst. that Ayoub Khan bad left Herat with a considerable body of mixed troops from Gamlahar, is now fully confirmed. Ayoub Khan is in command of the force, which is pushing forward with all speed.
