KUMARA WATER SUPPLY.

A meeting of the Water-supply Committee Was Held at Dillman’s Town on Thursday evenings the 7th ibst.j the following members being present— Messrs Agnew, Leslie, Dungan (in the "chair),Rbynolds, Rarrownian, Wheeler, ■fend Morris (Secretary). The minutes of the previous meeting Were read and Confirmed. The Chairman stated that since their iast meeting he had carried out the orders of the committee regarding the petition, in every particular. The betition had been forwarded to Wellington by Tuesday mbrning’s Christchurch boach. Mr Leslie said he was quite prepared to deal with his notice of motion of the previous meeting. The committee were Working hard for the interests of the district, and that pl ; etty well concerned the bulk of the population. He was Still of the same opinion that the Rorough be applied to for assistance, tie wished the committee to consider the matter. The following resolution was Carried:—“That Messrs Leslie, Agnew, and Dungan be appointed a sub-com-mittee to deal with the question of Ways and means.” The Chairman thought that they Were aware of Mr Seddon returning to RutharA j it was brought abotlt through the sad intelligence of a death taking Jdace in his family. Acting on the instructions of the committee he (the Chairman) had Addressed their petition to Mr Seddon, at Wellington. The following resolution wtts adopted hy the committee ;—“ That a deputation consisting of Messrs Kettle, Agnew, and Durlgau be authorised to Consult Mr Seddon relative to the urgency of dealing with the petition at an early date. The Secretary announced that a letter had been received from the Hon. Mr Gisborne, Wellington, promising warm support on behalf of the question of increased water-supply to Kumara goldfield. , The meeting then adjourned until Thursday evening* the 21st July.
