BRITISH AND FOREIGN. London, July G. Tenders for the South Australian Government Loans of, respectively £980,000 and £390,000, which were placed on the market last week, were, opened to-day. The total amount offered is £2,000,000. Tenders at £lO2 18s 6d will receive in full, and tenders at £lO2 18s will receive allotment to the extent of 61 per cent. The offers throughout average £IOO 19s Bd. . Athens, July 6. Despatches have been received from the Commander of the Greek army at the frontier, stating that the Turks have evacuated the town of Arta, and that he has taken possession of that post, and also of Punta, on behalf of the Helleuic Government, without opposition. The late news of the evacuation of Arta and of the withdrawal of the Turkish troops, has been received here with great public rejoicing. Constantinople, July 7. Midhat Pasha is to lie exiled to Arabia, for his complicity in.the murder of Sultan Abdul Aziz. The sentence of death passed in his case has been commuted. PRESIDENT GARFIELD. Washington, July 7.
