KUMARA GOLDFIELD WATERSUPPLY.

A meeting of the Water-supply Committee was held at Dillman's Town on Thursday evening the 30th ult., the following members being present— Messrs Agnew, Dungan (in the chair), Leslie, Kettle, Reynolds, Wheeler, M. Barrowman, and Morris (secretary). The minutes of the previous meeting were read arid confirmed.

The Chairman reported that Mr Morris and he had made a thorough canvass of the district, and had obtained nine hundred signatures to the petition. The following resolution was carried, being moved by Mr Kettle, and seconded by Mr Agnew: "That the chairman write to Messrs Seddon, Reid, Gisborne, Weston, Reeves, and Fisher, M.H.Rs., soliciting their support on behalf of the petition ; and that copies of the petition as published in the Khmara Times be furnished to each honorable member." The Chairman stated that he had been kindly supplied with a sufficient number for that purpose. Mr Leslie drew attention to the expense in getting np the petition. The

Prospecting Association had given some help. He thought tha Borough should do the same. He would give notice that at their next meeting he woula move that application be riiade to the Borough Council for soriie assistance.

Mr Agnew thought that the petition may be left in the hands of the Chairman to forward to Wellington as early as possible. The Chairman stated that he would attend to the petition with all despatch; it would be Forwarded by Tuesday's" mail, via Christchurch.
