BRITISH AND FOREIGN. London, June 22. The homeward mails via Suez and Brindisi, which left Melbourne on May 10th, were delivered to-day. It has transpired that Parnell will shortly pay another visit to the United States. Rome, June 23. Great excitement prevails throughout the country in consequence of the riots which occurred at Marseilles on the 17th and 18th instants, and at the numerous arrests of Italian subjects that have since been made by the French Government. Anti-French meetings are being held in several towns to express indignation at the action of the French. LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Melbourne, June 24. The debate on the no-confidence motion was carried on to a late hour last night, and was finally adjourned to today’s sitting. It is generally considered the result of the motion is uncertain, but the Opposition members express themselves as being confident of success. Princes Albert Victor and George of Wales are now journeying overland from Adelaide. They will reach Hamilton to-night, and will take a short rest there before coming on to Melbourne. Sydney, June 23. The Union Company's s.s. Rotornahana sailed yesterday afternoon for New Zealand via Newcastle. The captain declined to take either passengers or cargo from this port. No fresh cases of small-pox have been reported to the authorities.
