LATEST ENGLISH NEWS. London, June 1. In the House of Commons to-day, consideration of the Irish Land Bill in committee was made by Sir Stafford Northcote, who condemned the measure and denounced in strong .terms the feebleness of the Irish policy of the Government. No progress was made with any of the clauses of the Bill. The London Press, in discussing the present state of affairs in Ireland, are almost unanimous in recommending Government to take steps to completely suppress the Land League. Intelligence from Ireland continues to report serious affrays between the police and the people at various places over the eviction of tenants. The state of the country is daily becoming more disturbed.
Tenders are invited to-day, on behalf of the New South Wales Government, for a loan of £2,050,000, to bear interest at the rate of four per cent.
