THE KUMARA EDUCATION RESERVE.

ITS OCCUPATION FOR MINING AND OFHBR PURPOSES. For the information of miners, residents and others on the Kumara Education Reserve, we publish copy of a resolution recently passed by the School Commissioners of Westland of the scale of fees proposed for the approval of the Warden of this district, on behalf of the Minister of Lands, as provided by section 5 of the “ Kumara Education Reserve Act, 1879.” Although the proposals were approved of by Mr Stratford on behalf of the Hon. the Minister of Linds, on the 29th ult., they have not yet become binding, and it is hoped the School Commissioners will reconsider them : Clause 1. Occupation by Miner’s right or business license.—The fees paid lor such right or license. 2. Goldmining leases or special claims.—2os per acre per annum. 3. Dams, reservoirs, special sites, drainage areas, areas upon sides of races (including the races) —At the rate of 10s per acre per annum for ground so occupied. I. Races or tramways.—One shilling per chain (unless included in clause 3). 5- All registered rights.—The registration fees. All rights granted on the Reserve to be renewed annually
