NOTICE pTJJRE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS V ■ GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished patronage of his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication, received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, Upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicne often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious j but as the qualities of both of the pro l ducts are in many cases directly op* posed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts : The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought ott by tha application of a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheiia, croup, sprains* &c, the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unqiiestionably proved by former publications in this paper, an application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded npon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpeni tine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight. Our extract consists of the evaporating tides of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects* its price being twenty-fonr shillings for one pound weight. Oiu- extract, the geuuine article, is only made up in one halfounce and one ounce vials; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark aud signature. SANDER and SONS, Sole Manufac* turers of the Eucalyptus Extract. Sandhurst, November, 1878. DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand-. The Extract of the Eucalyptus Gld* bulus, manufactured Jsolely by Messrs Sander and Sons, Sandhurst, recommends itself by the following declara* tion and testimonials : Epitome of declaration made before Moritz Cohn, J. P., on the 17th October, 1877, at Sandhurst :—" Three medical gentlemen had attended the son o£ Mf Raabej of Ironbarkj for nine weeksj and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely necessary. At this junctiou Mr Raabe called on Messrs Sander and fcons, procuring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and, by the application of the same he had the satisfaction of seeing his son withiu a fortuighb out of all danger, and-he has now quite recovered." Brief Extracts from the Bendigo Evening News t Mr Gieschen, residing near ham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief* Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief* Cured after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbin (Runnymede) informed the manufao turers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November, Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium, caused by sunstroke, which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered in the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of consider* able size, disabling her from attending to any work. She removed the swell* ing completely by a continued application of the extract. The Donald Times, of Ist December, 1877, states;—Last week the eldest, boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache. The extract was applied, and the little fellow was cured \ and asleep in ten minutes. DUNCAN M'LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand.
