THE HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT.
[to the editor.] Sir—lt is currently rumored that £25 are to be paid to the Comedy Company for their services in aid of the Hospital. This, with advertising expenses will mount up to over £3O j and, supposing a £io house should be the result, the funds will not be increased by even the C-overnmeilt added money. Whose benefit is it got up for ] and what was the real reason of the sudden change from one theatre to the other 1 No one, as a rule, objects to attend a performance at the Royah But, as a little money is spent out side while a play is going on, this may have had some effect on some of the committee in causing a change in theatres. To the credit of the Burlesque Company be it said, that thd arrangement to play at another house was unknown to and disapproved of by many of them. This seems like speculating with the Hospital funds, by two or three of the committee, especially by slighting the amateurs, who at last performance for the Hospital netted about £SO, and are getting under weigh another performance for the same purpose • and as their expenses are small* the Hospital management cannot afford to throw them over—that is, if the present performance is really, as represented, for the benefit of that institution.—l am* sir, &c., Subscriber; Klimara* April 11th, 1881.
