NOTICE Pu&e Volatile eucalyptus Globulus extract. Under the distinguished patroilage of his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome* according to Comnlunicatioii received from the Consul-General fotf Italy, at Melbourne, itpon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers it! medicne often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of out* Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious] but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly op* posed to ohe another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following fabts The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be • of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and mahifests a drawing* blistering effect upon the skim Any blistering brOilght oil by the application of a medicament must increase inflammation* and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis* diptheria, croup, sprains* <fec., the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unques* tionably proved by former publications in this paper, an application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded npon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpeu l tine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight. Our ex* tract consists, of the evaporating par l tides of the gum leaves* soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-fonr shillings for one pound weight. Our extradt, the genuine article, is only made up in one halfounce and one ounce vials; vials bearing on the labels oilr trade mark and signature. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief. Cored after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm braised severely at a Crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the ac». cident did not even necessitate as much, as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbin (Runnymede) informed the manufac* turers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven, years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow.
