BRITISH AND FOREIGN. Constantinople, March 28. In view of the possibilities of hostilities breaking out between Turkey and Greece, the Sultan has asked the Ehedive that a contingent of the Egyptian troops may be sent for service in Turkey if war should be declared. Capetown, March 28. News has been received to-day from Basutoland reporting the resumption of hostilities between the Basutos and the Colonial forces, and a severe battle has been fought between the latter, under Colonel Carrington, and the enemy, but without any decided success to either side. The Colonel was somewhat severely wounded during the fight.Sir Hercules Robinson made a speech to-day, in the course of which he said there was every prospect of peace being secured in the Transvaal. St. Petersburg, March 28. The funeral of the late Czar took place to-day. LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Sydney, March 29, News comes to hand from New Guinea to the effect that four native teachers, with their wives and families, have been murdered by the natives, Melbourne, March 29. Per Merchant Shipping and Underwriters’ Association :—London, March 26th.—Arrived ; Langstone, from Napier, November 28th. It has transpired that Government has decided to proceed with the business in the Legislative Assembly in expectation of the Legislative Council reversing the ruling of the President, by w'hicli it was decided that the Reform Bill should not be received from the Assembly for consideration.
