Capetown, March 1. Intelligence has been received that

the proposals which had been made to the Basntos by the Commander of the Colonial forces have remained unanswered, and that the armistice has accordingly ceased.

In the Legislative Assembly last night a Bill was introduced by Graham Berry for the Reform of the Constitution, was read a second time without a division. Murray Smith then moved that a conference of the two Houses should be held, to agree, if possible, to compromise on the measure. Berry objected to the proposal at the' present time, and denounced it as unconstitutional and unprecedented. Sir John O'Shanuassy, D. Gannson, and Wrixon, supported the motion but the debate was finally adjourned to next sitting A caucas of the Opposition members was held yesterday, at which Murray Smith and j. G. Francis were elected joint leaders of the party in the Assembly.

Adelaide, March 4. Three hundred volunteers in this city have offered to proceed to Transvaal for service.
