The meeting to be held at the Town Hall this evening to take into consideiation the question of an increased

water-supply for this goldfield is one of special moment to the business portion of the community, inasmuch as additional water on this field will tend not only to the benefit of the nfining community engaged thereon, but, in their prosperity or otherwise lies the welfare or depreciation of the mercantile interests. The meeting held at Diilman’s Town last Monday fortuight with a similar object in, view was probably one of the largest ever held on this goldfield, as the miners were fully alive to the importance and necessity of agitating for an additional watersupply- The whole question was then well discussed in all its bearings, and it was most clearly and strongly shown by various speakers,—men who possessed a thoroughly practical knowledge ol the requirements of the field, — that an additional water-supply would not only prove beneficial to the mining community generally, but also a remunerative undertaking to the Government. Let the business people this evening show their hearty co-operation with the movement by their attendance; and, although it will probably be unnecessary to reiterate all the statements made at the late meeting at Diilman’s Town in favor of additional water being brought on the field, at the same time there are many other points that may be adduced with advantage. That the interests of the mining and business community are identical is no supposition, but fact, and it behoves the residents of this town to substantiate this by working hand in hand in anything that is advantageous to the well-being of the bone and sinew of the district.
