We ave informed that dealers in medicn'e often try to sell the eucalyptus" oil found in the trade instead of biir Eucalyptus Extract.. .So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would hot be. serious; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly posed to one another, we consider it our duiiy to direct the public attention to .the following facts : - The eucalyptus oil is recorded to" be> or value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawings blistering effect Upon the skin;. Any blistering brought oh by the} application of a medicament must increase inflammation; and it is therefore evident that in cases df wounds, colds, bronchitis; diptheria, croup, sprains; &c., the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper; ah application of the oil instead of our extract ihust impair the diseased. ~ .. ' The truth of biir assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpentine, its mat-kei; value being about threie shillings one pbUnd weight. Brief Extracts from the Bendigd Evening News :• Mr Gieschen, residing near Sydenham Gardens, had a very severe cold in ' November, Could scarcely breathe; and could get no relief. Cared after three applications of the extract. _ The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving relief* Cured after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much;-, as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbin (Runnymede) informed the manufacturers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter* eleven > years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November, Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke, which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered in the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of considerable size, disabling her from attending to any work. She removed the swells ing completely by a continued application of the extract. The Donald Times, of Ist December, 1877, states:—Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache.
