Under the distinguished pa'trohage bi his Majesty .the King of Italy, at Rome; according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions frojri the Minister for foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878 Y We are informed that dealers lA medicrie often,try to sell the eucalyptui oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is cdhcerbted, the consequences .would, riot, be. steriousj but as the qualities of both of the proi ducts are in many cases direelly opi posed to one another, we consider ft out* duty to direct the public attention, to the following facts : . The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be; of value as a medicament in cases ot rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifest a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought oh by th'e application of a niedicamerit must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds', bronchitis, diptn'eria, croup, sprains; &'cv, the curative power of our extract o'u the named disease's being tiohabiy proved by former publications iii this paper, an-Application of the oil instead of our extract must impair! the. diseased. The truth ot our assertion 1b founded ripon the fact that the oil is a resinous product; equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight; Our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum.leaves, soothing and healing in its effects; its, price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. The wife of Mr Fickei suffered in the bend of the knee from a swelling which had forihed a lump of-' consider* able size, disabling her from attending to any works She removed the swelling completely by a continued application of the extract. The" of Ist Deceiriberj 1877, states r—Last week the eldest bdy of Mr Mbrgan awoke in the night crying with earache.
