Under the distinguished paWoffagte of his Majesty .thte King Of Italy, at Rothe, according to 'communication received from the Consul'-GtearrM for Italy, at Melbourne, dpoii JhatbUtetions frohi the Minister for Fopeigxi Affairs, dated lith Match, 1878. We are informed that dealers id tried,icne often try t<J sell the 'eucalyptus oil Forind in the trade instead of out Eucalyptus Extract.; .So Far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is con'cerned, the consequences worild not he serious; but as the qualities of both of the products are in ninny castes directly opposed to ohe another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention, to the following facts , The eucalyptus oil is recorded to of value as a medicament in cSses of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect Upon the skin. Any blistering brought oh by thte application of a medicririierit must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in Cases of wounds, colds; bronchitis, diptheria, crolip, Sprains; &c., the curative power ‘of our extract on the named diseases beirig unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper, an application of thte oil instead of b'tir ‘extract must impairthe diseased. The truth of oiir assertion is Foiihdte'd upon the fact that the oil is a reSinouS product; equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings ohe pbiind weight. Our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gain, leaves; soothing and healing in its effects; its price being twenty-four shillings fdr brife polind weight: Oiir extract, the genuine article; iS only made up in Cue halfounce and one dunce vials; vials bearing oh the labels oiir trikite mark and signature: SANDEIt arid SONS; Sdlte Manufacturers of thte Eutealyptiis Extract, Sandhurst; November; 1878; ’ duNcan m^eAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand; Ttie Ektvabt of the EutealyptuS Gld : biilds, manufactured Jablely by MessrS Sander and Sons, Sandhurst; recommends ilsfelf by the following declaration and testimonials 2 Epitomte of ,declaration ; niadte bteforte Moritz Cohn; J.P.; on the 17th October; 1877, at Sandhurst :—“ Thrtete medical gtentlemen liad attended thte soh of Mr Riiabe; of irdnbdrk; fob hinte wteteks; and declared that ampUtatidn Of the leg injured by ah axe was absolutely necessary: At this junction Mr Raabe called dh MeSsrS Sander and Sons; ’ pfd* curing Some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus GlobUlUs, dnd; by thte applh Cation of the Same he had the Satisfaction of Seeing his Son within a fortnight out of alVdahger; and he haS nd\V quite recovered. Britef Extratets frdm the Nehdigd Evening News Mr Gieschen, residing riedr Syd enham Gardens, had a Very severe cold id November, could scarcely breathe, and cotlld get no relief; Cured after three applications of thte extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years froih rupture, and all medical skill ptoved ineffectual iri giving relief; Cored after , taking extract internally for six months. A man having his ai ; m bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the Oidetit did not even necessitate Us much as an interruption in his attendance at. wOrk: Mrs Weppner; in Colbinabbin (Runnymede) informed : the r manufac* turers that the extract applied twice restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age; who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November, Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a Cure of delirium caused by sunstroke; which took "place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek; The wife of Mr Pickel suffered in the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of considerable Size, disabling her from .attending to any work; She removed the s'welL ing completely by a continued applied* tion of the extract. The Donald Times, of - Ist December 1877, states:—Last week the eldest, boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache.
