The jury found adultry proved, and that there had been no connivance, condonation;, cruelty, or desertion, and gave damages, £3OO. Mr Rolleston leaves for Napier on Wednesday, and will accompany his Excellency on his journey overland to the West Coast. A N.W. gale is blowing, and the weather threatens to be unfavorable for the Regatta to-morrow. Dunedin, January 21. The Cricket Match was resumed today. Otago continued their first innings and scored 83. The Australians went in for their second innings and lost five wickets for 67 rnns. A heavy gale was experienced to day. The Caledonian Society stand and the Hardware Company’s buildings were unroofed. The Annual District Meeting of the Primitive Methodists of New Zealand commenced this morning. There were present 39 delegates from various stations. The Rev. J. Ward was unanimously elected president, and Mr T. Perkins, of Invercargill, vice-president. The business of the day was confined to receiving x’eturns of the respective stations. Major Atkinson arrived at Dunedin to-day. Adolphus Movitzon, charged with embezzlement from the Standard Insurance Company, was remanded to Friday next. The police continue to prosecute publicans for Sunday trading. Nelson, January 21. The Wesleyan Conference opened at seven this evening. The first draft of stations shows the following contemplated ministerial appointments for the year:—Auckland : Grafton Road, Rev. His Excellency left this morning hf special train, accompanied by his staff and the Hon. E. Whitaker* Minister in , attendance. The train arrived at Hamilton at 11 o’clock.
