[from THE ALTA dALIFJRIA.] The first trial heat in the International regatta, rowed on IBth November, on the Thames, from Putney Aqueduct to Chistfick Church, twd miles and a half, Was won by Laycock; Hawdon was second. Elliott did not finish, and Tarryer early gave up; Time 15ra. 335. In the second hiedtj Wallace Ross, of St. johns, N. B. t obtained an easy victory over tlilejr, of Saratoga, who was second; Feeley, of Barrow-on-Furnessj was third; Largan, of Wandsworth, last. Time I6nj. fta Ross easily beat Riley, who beat FeOlOy and Largan. In the third race, Hosmer, of Boston, won; Warren Smith, of ■ Halifax, second, Anderson, of Hammersmith, third. In the fourth race, THckett won, Nicholson, second, Clasper third. On the 19th, in the first trial heat, Wallace Boas, of St John,won the beat by a length ; Hosmer, of Boston.,. Mass., second; Riley, of Saratoga, N-Y., third ; Nicholson, qf Stock,-. ton-on-Teet, fourth. The water was rough, but there was no rain. Time lorn 3 . 325. The.?second heat was won by Laycock * Warren Suuih, ‘Of Halifax, N.S., second Trickett, of Sydney, N.S.W., third; Hawdon, of. Delavel, fourth. Loycock rowed jin - splendid ipfipdition, and won-,easily.. At Hammersmith he was four lengths ahead of Shiith, who Was leading Trickett by lengths. .Opposite, Trickett ma<3e a spurt, Arid AlmoiSp” -reached Smith:" Then he .slafckenedj .and <waSf beaten ‘ easily; ■• fouled with ; a bkrge opposite the Sbftp: - works. Trickett’s claim for thfe .a&jffiid f place on account.of.affialleged foulj not allowed. ' Ttickett started the favorite 'for thp heat, 5 to 4 being laid on him. His collapse was even more 7 marked than in his race with Hahlan. On the 20th, in the final beat, the rape' was at first between Ross ; and SinithV but Smith soon fell behind all the : others, and there was. a splendid contest between Ross, who led most of the. time, Laycock and Hosmer. Laycock drew away from the others gradually, and at Barnesbridge he was three lengths ahead of them all. His victory was enthusiastically cheered, and is attributed to his superior; condition. Ross fouled Laycock above Chiswick. Laycock then took the lead, and he not only won on the fool, but won the race handsomely by seven length in 26m. 435. Hosmer was a good third. Lay-, cock, Australian, carried off the first prize of £SOO ; Ross, second, winning £3OO ; Hosmer, third, winning £l6O jV* and Smith fourth, winning £4O.
