BRITISH AND FOREIGN, Lonbon, January 8. The Board of Trade returns for the J*st month have been published. The imports amount to ,£33,187,500 being a decrease of £2,125,400 compared with iast year. The exports amount to £18,187.500 being an increase of £1,025,000. January 10. Acting under instructions from the Government, the authorities in Ireland contimie to take active measures to repress the disorder which still prevails in many districts. Further arrests of Leaguers have been made, and the accused kept in custody, and warrants will continue to be issued for the arrest and imprisonment of prominent agitators. All land meetings are forbidden, and every endeavour is being made to suppress " boycotting," or octracising of landlords, to prevent the gathering of crops in the manner adopted against Boycot.

VrENNA. January 10. The marriage which was ananged to take place next month, between the Crown Prince Rudolph of Austria, and the Prtnce*a ,! Stephanie, has been postponed* Capetown, January 9. Telegrams from Dunbar report that the Boers who recently entered Natal and opposed the advance of the British troops, have recrossed the border into the Transvaal, and have attacked the Britith garrison at Wakkerstroom. A strong defence was offered, and the enemy were repulsed with considerable loss. January 10. News has been received that the rebellion of tribes in the Transkei, is generally subsiding, and hostilities are almost entirely suspended. LATEST AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Sydney, January 10. The brig Mavis has arrived here from the Solomon Group, and reports that the captain and crew of the Sydney schooner Zephyr have been massacred, and the vessel plundered and burnt. Melbourne, January 10. Sir Samuel Wilson takes the Champion prize for wool at the Exhibition. The show of grain and agricultural produce opens at the Exhibition on tbe 23rd February. January 11. The ship Hereford, which has gone ashore on Cape Patten, is not yet a total wreck, but is likely to become so. The South Australian, West Australian, Tasmanian, and Victorian delegates to the Intercolonial Conference, leave Melbourne to-morrow for Sydney. In the Corio Bay Regatta, the Victoria yacht Janet was first, with the Auckland yacht Taniwha, second. The ship Hereford, bound from London to this port, became a total wreck on Cape Patten (Cape Paterson on the Victorian Coast). All lives have been Baved. Brisbane, January 10. Skuthorpe telegraphs from Black hall that he has discovered the grave of Classan, and has also obtained evidence as to the fate of Leichardt, the explorer. A junk has arrived at Cookfown, and reports that the crew of the schooner Prosperity, consisting of nine .Chinese, have been slaughtered by the Natives of Lincade Island, near New Guinea. Further news co hand confirms the information received yesterday of the massacre of the crew of the schooner Prosperity, by the natives of Lowde Island, and states (hat the bodies were smoke dried, and the heads sent to the various villages.
