N 0 TfG E PtJRE VOLATILE GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished patronage 'of his Majesty the King of Italy, ah Rome, according to communication, received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicne often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of outEucalyptus Extract. SO far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious j but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly op* posed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facta : The eucalyptus oil is recorded to b 6 of Val Vie as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and. manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the shin. Any blistering brought on by th& application of a medicament to list increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains, &C., the CuVativ'e power of our extract on the named diseases being Unquestionably proved by former publicitions in this paper, an application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded npon the fact that the oil is a resinous product, equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight. Our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-fonr shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made up in one halfounce and One ounce Vials $ vials bearing on the labels oUr trade mark and signature.
