NOTICE. pUKJE VOLATILE £ij#AlWlru"g • GLOBULUS EXTRACT; Under the distinguished pakroii&ge of : his Majesty the King of Italy, at i Rome, according to communication deceived from the Consul-Generatl for ' Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructibns from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated Hth March, 1878; We are informed that; dealers in. medicine often try to sell the eucylyptus oil found in the trade instead of our" Euclyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the publid in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious j but as the qualities of both, of the product* are in many cases directly opposed to on© * another, we consider it our duty td' direct the public attention to the fol* lowing facts:— 1 ! The eucalyptus oil is recorded to foe of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary, nature, and; manifests a drawing, blistering effects upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflamation, and it is therefore evident, that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains &c.s the curative power of our extract on, the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications iA this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded* upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpen=tine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight; our extract consists of the. evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is 'only made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials; vials 'beat* ing on the labels our trade niark and signature; SANDER and SONS, Sole Manufacturers of the Eucalyptus Extract* Sandhurst, November, 1878. At this junction Mr Raabe" called on Messrs Sander and Sons, pro*curing some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and by the application of the same he had the satis; faction of seeing his son within a fortenight out of all danger, and he has now quite recovered." Brief Extracts from, the Bendigb teveniug News : Mr Gieschin, residing near Syden=ham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all' medical skill proved ineffectual in giving reliefi. Cured after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Coibinabbin (Runnymede) informed the manufacturers that the extract applied twice 1 restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November Mrs Reeves, from the - Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke, which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered iii tho bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of considerable size, disabling her from attending to any work. She removed the swelU ing completely by a continued application of'the extract. The Donald Times, of Ist December; 1877, states:—Last week the eldest boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the night crying with earache.
