The Kumara Times. Published Every Evening. SATURDAY, JUNE 19, 1830.

Through the lengthy nature of the evidence in the case of Peter Drury we are compelled to hold over some correspondence and matters of local interest. There were five bags of mails and one passenger by the Christchurch coach for here, which passed the Bealey early this morning. The trial of Peter Drury for assault and larceny occupied the Resident Magistrate's Court until a late hour last evening, the evidence of which appears in another column. The prisoner was committed for trial on both charges at the next sitting of the Supreme Court, bail being allowed in two sureties of £IOO each and himself in £2OO. At a sitting of the Licensing Court held at the Greenstone on Thursday afternoon by Messrs Mackay, Arnott, Smith, and Thomas, publicans licenses were granted to Edward King, Stewart R. Harris, and Daniel Murphy. Conditional licenses were granted to James Biggs and Bridget Houlihan at £2O each ; the Bench at the same time making a recommendation to the Greymouth County Council that the amount should be reduced to £lO in both these cases. We are requested by the Clerk of the Resident Magistrate's Court to state that a copy of the new Electoral Roll can be seen at his office, during business hours, on any day except Monday in each week. We would remind contractors that the tenders for driving and also sinking a shaft for Mr Maher in connection with the Kumara sludge-channel close this evening. Attention is specially directed to the public sale by auction of Messrs D. Davidson and Co's remaining stock on Friday next.
