NOTICE. >URE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS" GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished patronage o<£ his Majesty the King of Italy> it Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucylyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Euclyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case i 9 concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one auother, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts: — The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in case 3 of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inflamation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptlieria, croup, sprains &c.j the curative power of our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight ; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, tlie genuine" article, is only made up in one half ounce and one ounce vials ; vials bearl ing on the labels our trade mirk and signature. The Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, manufactured solely by Messrs Sander and Sons, Sandhurst, l-ecotn-mends itself by the following declaration and testimonials : Epitome of declaration made before Moritz Cohn, J.P., on the 17th October* 1877, at Sandhurst :—" Three medical gentlemen had attended the son of Mr Raabe, of Ironbark, for nine weeks, and declared that amputation of the leg injured by-an axe was absolutely necessary. At this junction Mr Raabe called on Messrs Sauder and Sons, procuring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, aiid by the api plication of the same he had the satisfaction of seeing his son within a .fortnight out of all danger, and he has no\v quite recovered." Brief Extracts from the Bendigd Evening News : Mr Gieschin, residing near Sydenham Gardens, had a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe, and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eights yeai-s from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual in giving reliefCured after taking extract internally for six months. A man having his arm bruised severely at a crushing machine, in. Long Gullyj applied the extract, and the accident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs Weppner, in Colbinabbiri (Runnymede) informed the manufaci turera that the extract applied twice" restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow. In November Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman's Arms, Back Creek, brought information of a cure of delirium Caused by sunstroke, which took place in the family of Mr Ryan, butcher, of Back Creek. The wife of Mr Fickel suffered hi the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of considerable size, disabling her from attending to any work. She removed the swelling completely by a continued application of the extract. The Donald Times, of Ist 1877, states:—Last week the eldest} boy of Mr Morgan awoke in the nigbi crying with earache.
