N 0 T r Cl PURE VOLATILE E&CALYPTU& GLOBULUS EXTRACT. Under the distinguished patroUagfe ol his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication" received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, iipoh instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affaire, dated 14th Match, 1878; We are informed that dealers id medicine often try to sell the eucylyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Euclyptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious; but ad the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another 1 , we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts: — The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect" upon the skin. Any blistering bi’Onght on by th'e application of a medicament must increase inflamation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains &c.> the curative power of our extract od the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in. this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinouA product equivalent to common, turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight; our eartract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for ode pound weight. Our ’ extract, the genuine article, is Only made up in one lial£. ounce and one ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature. SANDER and SONS, Sole Manufacturers of the Eucalyptus Extract. Sandhurst, November, 1878’. DUNCAN M‘LEAN, Wholesale Agent for New Zealand. The Extractof the Eucalyptus Glob'd- • lus, manufactured solely by Messrs Sandel' and Sons, Sandhurst, recommends itself by the following declaration And testimonials Epitome of declaration made faeforb Moritz Cohn, J.P., on the 17th October-, 1877, at Sandhurst:—“ Three medical gentlemen had attended the son of Mr Raabe, of Ironhavk, for nine weeks, and declared that amputation of the leg injured by an axe was absolutely necessary. At this junction Mr Raabe called on Messrs Sander and Sons, procuring some of their Extract of the Eucalyptus Globulus, and by the api plication of the same he had the faction of seeing his son within a fortnight out of all danger, and he has novfr quite recovered;” Brief Extracts from the Bendigd Evening News:— Mr Gieschin, residing near Sydenham Gardens* had a very severe cold in November, could scarcely breathe* and could get no relief. Cured after three applications of the extract. The same gentleman suffered eight years from rupture, and all medical skill proved ineffectual iu giving relief; Cured after taking extract internally for six months. ;% A man having his a§t bruised severely at a crushing machine, in Long Gully, applied the extract, and the. accident did not even necessitate as much as an interruption in his attendance at work. Mrs. Weppner, in ColbinabbiU (Runnymede) informed the manufaci turers that the extract applied twied restored health to her daughter, eleven years of age, who had been rushed and trampled upon by a cow;. In November Mrs Reeves, from the Rifleman’s Arms, Back Creek, brbught information of a cure of delirium caused by sunstroke, which took place, in the family of Mr Ryan, batcher, of Back Creek. , . ( The wife of Mr Nickel suffered' id the bend of the knee from a swelling which had formed a lump of considerable size, disabling her from ‘attending to any work.
