SOUTH TOWN BELT.

[to the editor.]

•Sir —ln the Report by the Town Clerk to the Borough Council at their last sitting, he states that the residents of the South Town Belt have neither held licenses or paid rates—a most extraordinary statement to emanate from a person having access to the rate books. I beg to inform the Council that two of the occupants were in the possession of business licenses before the Borough Was in existence, and that all have paid the rates. Those not having business lieenses were obliged to take out miners rights. It is hard to believe that such a statement could be made in ignorance ; the only inference is that it has been made with some ulterior motive. A South Town Belter. June 14, 1880.
