N GT r C 15. pITRE VOLATILE EtfCALYPTtf§ *• GLOBULES EXTRACT. Under the distinguished pathmagb oi his Majesty the King of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instruct tions from the Minister , for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878; We are informed that dealers ih medicine often try to sell the encylvptus oil found in the trade instead of our Euclyptus Extract. So far as the com-* mitting of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not bfe serious ; but an the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to. the following facts; — The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, manifests a drawing, blistering effect Upon the skin. Any blistering brought on by the application of a medicament must increase inliamation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds,> bronchitis, diptheria, croup, sprains &c.y the curative power of our extract oh the named diseases being unquestionably pi’oved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased. The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about thiree shillings one pound weight; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article, is only made tip- in one half ounce arid one ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature. SANDER and Sole Mahufacturers of the Eucalyptus Extract. Sandhurst, November, 1878, DUNCAN M'LEAN,, . Wholesale Agent for New Zealand. The Extract of the Eucalyptus Globa*.
